DreamWind Design & Editing is all about doing the best work possible for an affordable price. Period.
That said, I'll briefly relate my own experience concerning expensive edits forced on a writer by a publisher . . . This particular fellow supposedly had 40 years experience in editing the work of other writers. The edits, therefore, ought to have been stellar. But they weren't. Not even close. Cost of bad edit? Nearly $4000! Did my writing partner and I use it in our final draft for our book?
No.
In our case, no edit was better then what we had to pay for. Don't get me wrong, there are editing services out there worth their price--if you have it to give them. My partner had the cash, but our editor hadn't the skills needed to command such a price. I cautioned my partner about using this guy's service. There were others who'd offered whose price was about samebut, since our publisher recommended this person, my partner made the decision to go ahead with it. Did he get samples of this fellow's work first? No--he didn't feel he needed to. Not when the man had 40 years experience under his belt. And he came highly recommended by our publisher . . .
Big mistake. Just because you have the cash to pay for an expensive edit doesn't mean you should blindly go for it. A bad edit is a bad edit no matter what you pay for itor whether or not you can afford it. Samples of my work are right here on site. As I get permission to use other clients' drafts for comparison, I will post them.
The other services offered a sample of their work and detailed notes of what they wanted to change. We didn't even have to ask for it. I wouldn't have been agreeable to the changes for the most part, but the editing end of it would have been far far better than what we got.
In the end, I fought for and got the right to redo the edits myself. I am ruthless when it comes to my own work. However, for whatever reason, the publisher sent the book to print using our original copy . . .
While I appreciate, and will stand up for, the right of every writer to do the edits on their own work, I will also admit that it is true that a fresh pair of eyes can detect typos, punctuation marks, spelling, grammarwhere it isn't an actual part of the storyand story structure flaws that a writer may miss. Everyone needs some help from time to time, so I decided to offer a service that's more affordable to anyone needing a professional edit. I've been writing and doing edits sincewell, since I began writing as a kid. That was, well, over 40 years ago. But don't just go by that. Look at my samples. Email me for more information if you have any other questions or concerns. Your satisfaction is my focus.
I've had an internet presence since 1995. Truthfully, my experience in doing eBook Design and Logo/Web Design come from just flexing my fingers and jumping in to learn to do it for my own work and sites. In the eBook cover department, I can offer both 3D and flat cover images.
I have some sample covers for inspection here, and I will add other samples of my work as my time permits. In the meantime, I hope you will consider DeeamWind Design and Editing for your needs.
Thank you for spending some of your precious time visiting my site!
